Lead Healthy Lifestyle, Health Ministry Staff Told

PUTRAJAYA, June 7 (Bernama) – Health Ministry staff should lead a healthy lifestyle as an example to society.

Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said this was imperative so that they could carry out their duties and play their role well.

"At least, the Health Ministry staff should serve as a good example to the public," he said in his speech at a Health Minister-friendly gathering with the ministry staff here today.

At the event, Dr Dzulkefly also presented donations to four people with disabilities, nine individuals from single parents and 27 representatives from low income families.

On the event, he said such corporate social responsibility programmes should be organised from time to time, instead of seasonal or with the advent of Ramadan.

This is because the ministry served the community, he said.

Understanding Dementia Better

By Siti Radziah Hamzah

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) -- Imagine how you would feel if you wake up one morning in the house you have lived with your family for about 30 years and you are not able to recognise your surroundings. You look at the mirror and ask yourself, “Who am I, where am I?”

This is one of many symptoms indicating that you may have dementia, a debilitating disease that takes away the ability to retain memory, think clearly, behave normally and perform everyday activities.

Dementia is an increasingly common disease affecting ageing populations in especially low- and middle-income countries where access to social protection, services, support and care is limited.
