Takaful Malaysia launches Asia's first fully underwritten online medical plan

KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 (Bernama) -- Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Bhd has launched the first fully underwritten online medical plan in Asia, Takaful MediCare, via its Click for Cover sales portal.

Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Mohamed Hassan Kamil said the new medical product was designed to cater not only for customers with good health but also those who are afflicted with medical conditions.

"The premium and necessary loadings will be auto-calculated based on the medical questionnaires. This is part of our digital strategy which has clearly set us apart from any insurance providers in offering such an advanced innovation," he said in a statement today.

Takaful MediCare is an affordable medical plan for Malaysians aged between 30 days to 69 years for coverage of up to RM100,000 per year with no lifetime limit.

It provides cashless admission to panel hospitals nationwide, with the coverage renewable up to the age of 85.

The insurance provider has made the product more affordable by offering the option to enjoy a contribution discount of up to 30 per cent when selecting a deductible amount.

The deductible option is a cost-sharing feature where the customer shares a low fixed amount of medical expenses with the balance paid by the medical cover up to the annual limit.
