LABUAN, July 3 (Bernama) -- All development projects of the Ministry of Health that had been approved will not be revised but implemented according to the plan.
However ad-hoc projects announced before the 14th General Election will not be implemented.
Its Secretary-General Datuk Seri Dr Chen Chaw Min said the ministry was working on more allocation to maintain medical care facilities in all 46 hospitals across the country.
"Projects that had been approved will continue as planned, except those considered as politically-motivated that were announced before the election will not be implemented," he said at the Excellent Service Awards of Labuan Health Department here today.
Dr Chen said the ministry has identified a number of facilities that were already more than 50 years old and that needed immediate replacement.
"Our challenges ahead are to ask for more allocation from the government to build new facilities to cater to the increasing population and to maintain the facilities well," he said.
Dr Chen said his ministry was finding effective ways of resolving the 'long queuing time' of patients in most of the hospitals.
"In improving our service for the better for the people in general, we are also addressing this long-waiting period and this had been an issue of concern to the ministry now," he said.
Dr Chen said the soon-to-be-set-up Health Advisory Council by the minister, to look into the long-term and sustainability of health care would greatly help improve the standards of health care services in the country.
He said two new hospitals would be built in Pasir Gudang and Padang Besar due to the demand from the people there.
