UPSI, Telekom forge partnership to develop App for tracking child development

IPOH, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- The National Children's Development Research Centre at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) has teamed up with Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) to develop a special application to monitor the early development of children.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two parties at the Sultan Azlan Shah Campus in Proton City, Tanjung Malim, yesterday, with UPSI represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohammad Shatar Sabran while TM was represented by the company’s Negeri Sembilan general manager Ramlan Omar.

Mohammad Shatar said the application would analyse the data of children from the time they were born until they were 10 years to enable information such as demographics, health and level of development to be accessed via smartphones.

He said the development of the application also received cooperation from the Department of Health and the Education Department in each state which provided the required data.

"This collaboration is in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution which is digital, and applications make human life easier," he said in a statement here, today.
