Pantai Hospital Ipoh attempts to set senior citizen cycling record

IPOH, Aug 20 (Bernama) – Pantai Hospital Ipoh is attempting to create the most number of senior citizens cycling on exercise bicycle feat in Malaysia Book of Records in conjunction with World Heart Day.

It’s chief executive officer, Chong Siet Fong said the attempt would be held in line with the cardio campaign Spin Your Heart 2018 at Aeon Klebang, here, on September 2, from 10 am till 5 pm.

“A minimum of 80 senior citizens age 55 years and above will cycle non-stop for an hour and presently the number of participants have increased to 91 participants.

“The cyclists consist members of the public, sports enthusiasts and members of Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas, Urban Transformation Centre (UTC),  will display their stamina, endurance and love for sports,” she told reporters here, today.

She added the challenge had never be done before in Malaysia and participants would be trying this endurance feat in line with the themes Move Your Heart, Fuel Your Heart and Fire Up Your Heart.

“We will have Malaysia Book of Records officials to judge the event and the State Health, Consumer Affairs, National Integration and Human Resources Committee chairman A Sivanesan will be officiating the event and witnessing the attempt,” she said.

She said other fun activities for the day would be free health screenings such blood pressure check, body fat assessment, dietary counselling, hand grip test and fitness test for visitors.

“I would like to express our sincere appreciation to our co-organisers namely Jaycycle Fitness Centre, Aeon Mall Ipoh Klebang, Kelab Rekreasi Ejen Prudential Perak, Body Alignment Warehouse Gym, Body Work Fitness Centre, Maximus Maniac Gym, RV Fitness Centre and Ultimate Fitness Gym as well as support from Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas (PAWE) UTC Perak ,” she said.
