KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 (Bernama) -- The Health Ministry (KKM) is still waiting for feedback from the Finance Ministry and Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) on the proposal to raise the rate of consultation charges by medical practitioners and doctors working in clinics and private hospitals throughout the country.
Its Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the move was to conduct a review before presenting to the cabinet.
“The information received by KKM is based on discussions at town hall sessions conducted by the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) and various stakeholders. We have discussed the matter during post cabinet meetings and will take it up to the cabinet,” he told reporters after launching the International Nursing Conference here today.
Earlier, deputy Health director-general Datuk Dr Azman Abu Bakar in a town hall session on Aug 27 said the consultation charge review proposal paper had been handed over to KKM.
It is proposing to raise charges to between RM35 and RM125 from the present rate of RM10 and RM35 which has not been reviewed for almost 12 years.
