52 tahfiz students down with food poisoning

SEREMBAN, Oct 19 (Bernama) -- Fifty-two pupils of Tahfiz Darul Ulum in Senawang near here, suffered food poisoning after eating tumeric chicken dish, which was provided by a donor for dinner yesterday.

State Health director Dr Zainudin Mohd Ali said the pupils aged between seven and 12 showed symptoms of food poisoning at around 4 am and were sent to the hospital for treatment.

“The dish was believed to have been the cause and the individual who had donated the food has been identified,” he said adding that cleanliness of the house where the food was prepared was found to be satisfactory.

"Several food samples have been sent to the National Public Health Laboratory in Sungai Buloh for further tests and the results are expected to be in within one to two weeks,” he added.
