7,000 ILKKM graduates to be hired on contract under KKM

IPOH, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- A total of 7,000 graduates of the Health Ministry Training Institute (ILKKM) will be contracted to fill posts under the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MoH) starting January 1 next year.

Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye said, for the first phase of implementation, 4,000 ILKKM graduates would be appointed to fill vacancies for a four-year contract.

"If we want to give them (ILKKM graduates) permanent posts, there are not enough available, so we take them on a contract basis to overcome the problem of the graduates languishing without jobs since 2017.

"However, those graduates who received excellence results will be absorbed immediately to fill permanent positions in the ministry," he said.

Lee was speaking at a press conference after presenting certificates and diplomas to graduates of the training institute in conjunction with the 2018 Convocation Ceremony at ILKKM Sultan Azlan Shah here tonight.

A total of 8,124 graduates received certificates and diplomas throughout the three-day convocation since Saturday.

Earlier, Lee in his speech said the ministry had submitted an application to the Public Service Department (PSD) since April this year for the proposed appointment of ILKKM graduates on a contract basis.

He said the PSD had in principle agreed with the proposal.
