KUALA SELANGOR, Nov 11 (Bernama) – Health and culture are very important in society as an identity that can be highlighted to foreign tourists in particular who make Malaysia their main tourism destination.
State Culture, Tourism, Malay Customs and Heritage Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari said these two aspects could serve as hubs for tourist arrivals to the state.
"I was impressed with the Budget 2019 presented by Minister of Finance Lim Guan Eng on Nov 2, where health tourism in Malaysia continues to be recognised by foreign countries.
"We are also truly fortunate because the diversity of ethnic identities is a priceless asset to the people and the nation. Through this diversity, we inherit a colourful culture and this is the source of our strength to the extent the world recognises Malaysia as a harmonious multi-racial country under the 'Malaysia Truly Asia' brand, "he said.
Abdul Rashid said this when officiating the Health and Culture Carnival together with a ‘Meet a Customer Day’ organised by the Kuala Selangor District Council (MDKS) in collaboration with the Worldwide Environment and Ecoworld at Eco Grandeur Puncak Alam here today.
The carnival, which was attended by more than 1,000 guests, was aimed at raising awareness on health, culture and harmony as well as strengthening ties between the multi-racial communities of Kuala Selangor.
Among the activities carried out in the one day carnival were aerobics, 10,000-step campaign, food trucks sales, dengue awareness programme, health product sales, free health checks, ‘kuda kepang’, martial arts, music groups and the opening of Eco Grandeur, Bike Park.
