DOHA, Nov 27 (Bernama) – Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today paid a courtesy call on Qatar Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Dr Khalid Mohammed Al Attiyah.
Earlier, Dr Wan Azizah, who is also Women, Family and Community Development Minister, had a meeting with Qatar Health Minister Dr Hanan Al Kuwari at the Women’s and Research Hospital here.
Dr Wan Azizah, who is on three-day official visit to the emirate, was also given a tour of the government hospital which is specifically for women patients.
Meanwhile, the deputy prime minister also attended a roundtable meeting organised by the Malaysian International Trade and Industry Ministry and its agencies, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) in collaboration with Qatar Business Association.
The meeting was also attended by Qatar Business Association Chairman Sheikh Faisal Qassim Al Thani and Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce Muhammed Bin Ahmed Bin Towar Al-Kuwari, Malaysian International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Ignatius Darell Leiking and Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Amiruddin Hamzah.
The meeting was attended by 60 Qatari businessmen and businesswomen and 18 Malaysian companies operating in Malaysia and Qatar.
The main objective of the roundtable meeting was to explore potential areas of collaboration between Malaysia and Qatar businesses as well as to facilitate foreign direct investment and promote bilateral trade between the two countries.
