Repairs on damaged Ipoh General Hospital pedestrian bridge to start in two weeks

IPOH, Dec 20 (Bernama) -- Work on the damaged pedestrian bridge in front of the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here is expected to be carried out in about two weeks after the contractor submits a report to the Ipoh City Council.

The contractor, Syarikat Mangkubumi Sdn Bhd, will submit the report on the repair procedure before remedial work on the bridge at Jalan Raja Ashman Shah can be carried out, said State Public Amenities, Infrastructure, Agriculture and Plantations Committee chairman Abdul Yunus Jamhari.

He said cracks appeared on the bridge structure after the contractor's lorry, which was carrying machinery, rammed into the bridge two weeks ago.

Abdul Yunus said that while he had called for immediate repairs, Syarikat Mangkubumi had to carry out further inspection, adding that the bridge was still stable.

Barriers had been placed in the area for public safety and to prevent any untoward incident from happening, he said.
