Take steps to avoid heat stroke - Perlis Health Dept

KANGAR, March 5 (Bernama) -- The Perlis Health Department has advised the public, especially those with sickness and allergic to heat, to avoid being exposed to hot weather for fear of suffering from heat stroke.

Its director Dr Sirajuddin Hashim said those working under the hot sun should get more rests, wear thin clothings and hats or caps as well as drink more water to prevent dehydration.

“Those suffering from lung infection, seizures, fever and asthma must be more sensitive and limit their outdoor activities and to seek immediate treatment if their condition worsens,” he told Bernama yesterday.

Yesterday, a farmer Alif Rezman Azhar, 21, was reported to have died of seizure while tending to his paddy field in Kampung Pida 2, Manggol Bonggor near Kodiang, Kedah at about 11.30am.

Meanwhile, Perlis Meteorological Department director Mohd Saharudi Saad, when contacted, said the Chuping Meteorological Station recorded the highest reading of 36.8 degree Celsius on Feb 8 and Feb 22 while the temperature yesterday was 36.2 degree Celsius.
