Malfunctioning airconds at Ampang Health Clinic to be fixed promptly - Lee Boon Chye

KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 (Bernama) -- All malfunctioning air-conditioning units at the Ampang Health Clinic will be fixed promptly, said Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye.

Responding to yesterday’s media report that the clinic was facing problems with their air-conditioning system since January this year, Dr Lee said quick action would be taken to ensure smooth health services given to patients.

“Altogether, there are 74 air-conditioning units at the clinic and we already checked half of it. Of the total, three air-conditioner compressors were found to have malfunctioned,” he told a press conference after visiting the clinic here today.

Dr Lee said he was told the clinic had a maintenance-contractor issue which led to the three months maintenance delay.

“The previous contractor's contract ended on Dec 31 last year. The current contractor needs some transition period to tag the assets before starting the maintenance.

“It will take some time and the delay had caused discomfort to everyone. But if the maintenance work is not done (after this), the contractor will be fined,” he said assuring the malfunctioning air-conditioners will be repaired in two weeks time.

The Ampang Health Clinic was established in 1969 and receives approximately 1,200 patients daily.
