KAMPAR, March 11 (Bernama) -- The Perak state government is studying three proposed sites identified for the construction of the new hospital in Kampar district, said State Health, Consumer Affairs, National Integration and Human Resources Committee chairman A. Sivanesan.
He said the detailed study is important as the location of the new hospital proposed by the state government earlier was found to be unsafe as it was a former mining land.
According Sivanesan, the study was conducted by the Public Works Department (JKR) at three new locations around a 10-kilometre radius from the present Kampar Hospital.
"JKR said the original site in a former mining land was deemed not suitable for the construction of a hospital and the site was cancelled by Finance Ministry and we were told to look for possible new sites,” he told reporters after visiting Kampar Hospital here today.
Also present was Keranji assemblyman Chong Zhemin.
He said the old Kampar Hospital could not accommodate the needs of the people in the district as it has only 68 beds apart from having several blocks declared unsafe for occupation by JKR.
