KOTA KINABALU, March 12 (Bernama) -- A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Health4U Solution Sdn Bhd (Health4U), a developer of BookDoc application, and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) was signed today, marking a milestone in digital healtcare in Sabah.
The MoU will see the two parties solidifying a collaborative relationship in the areas of teaching and research, besides signifying BookDoc’s commitment in contributing to the development of digital healthcare landscape in the country; while working with UMS to pave the way in realising UMS’s dream of establishing the first smart teaching hospital in East Malaysia.
Health4U was represented by its chief executive officer Datuk Chevy Beh, while UMS was represented by its vice-chancellor Datuk D Kamarudin D Mudin, and the signing was witnessed by Sabah People' Health and Wellbeing Minister Datuk Stephen Wong Tien Fatt.
According to Beh, who is also the BookDoc application founder, the collaboration enables both parties to join expertise in areas including research of the Digital Transformation of Healthcare, Smart Hospital, Medical Tourism, and optimising access to healthcare and human capital.
"We are excited to work with an academic institution such as UMS to operationalise and digitise the hospital, aiming to contribute to the continuous development of the digital healthcare landscape in the region. With the collaboration, BookDoc will provide its platform to UMS for this purpose," he said in a press release, here.
Beh said Health4U envisaged the collaboration would help the company to better understand the needs in realising digital healthcare from a teaching perspective and the new way services were rendered, which would be more data-driven and personalised.
BookDoc, with its presence in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand and Indonesia, is an online platform that operates across the healthcare continuum connecting patients to healthcare professionals anytime and anywhere, while incentivising all to stay active.

Meanwhile, Kamarudin in his speech text said, the BookDoc application would be able to assist UMS Hospital in offering health services to patients throughout Sabah regardless of their time and location although the hospital is located in Kota Kinabalu.
"I hope this collaboration will make UMS a strong and sustainable institution in the future, and I am also confident this cooperation will further enhance the achievement of students in teaching and learning,” he said.
The UMS Hospital project is currently under construction and is expected to be completed by 2021.
