EnPHC initiative to be expanded to 20 more clinics this year - Dr Dzulkefly

PUTRAJAYA, April 8 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Health will expand the Enchanced Primary Health Care (EnPHC) initiative to 20 more health clinics by this year although the in-depth study on the pilot project will only be completed by September, its minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said today.

"The expansion to more health clinics will be implemented in stages," he said during the 2019 World Health Day celebration at the Health Ministry here today.

The EnPHC pilot project which aims to improve detection of chronic diseases detection such as diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidaemia, has been implemented in 20 health clinics in Johor and Selangor since July 2017.

EnPHC ensures every resident in the area is registered, enabling the development of a health database and risk profiles, with those at risk given early intervention according to the level of risk.

According to Dr Dzulkefly, within a year of its implementation, the EnPHC had managed to register 309,472 people, which constituted 82 per cent of the total population in the operating areas of the 20 health clinics involved.

According to him, 24.4 per cent or 92,209 of those registered were screened for non-infectious diseases.
