Perak govt implements programmes to encourage mammogram screenings



IPOH, April 22 (Bernama) -- The Perak government through the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) has implemented various programmes in efforts to promote and encourage women in the state to undergo mammogram screenings.

State Social Well-Being, Women and Family Development and Social Welfare Committee chairman Wong May Ing said the efforts include providing transportation for those seeking an examination at the mammogram centre.

“In addition, we also distribute leaflets to the public as well as conducting talks on early detection of breast cancer to women in the community and villages,” she said.

She said this in her reply to a question from Dr Ko Chung Sen (DAP-Kepayang) during the 14th State Legislative Assembly here today.

Meanwhile, Wong (DAP-Pantai Remis) said as of March 15, a total of 4,808 housewives and women had registered under the Suri Incentive (i-Suri) voluntary contribution scheme based on eKasih data.

She said, as of Nov 30, last year, a total of 21,164 housewives in Perak were eligible for the programme based on eKasih data.
