Negara: MyHIX database implemented to improve accessibility to medical records

KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 (Bernama) -- The Health Ministry has implemented the Malaysia Health Information Exchange (MyHIX), an integrated health database which improves accessibility to medical records, the Dewan Negara was told today.

Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye said the system, being developed and implemented in stages, is a boon to hospitals and medical practitioners in accessing records of patients referred to them.

“MyHIX will integrate with the facility information system and through it health records of patients can be referred via the index of the integrated database system.

“So far MyHIX has been implemented in nine government hospitals and one health clinic … while its implementation in private hospitals and clinics will also be done in stages via the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) initiative to create a complete integrated health database,” he said.

Lee was replying to a question from Senator Datuk Dr S. Ananthan who wanted to know whether the ministry planned to create a database on patients of government and private hospitals and clinics in the country.
