KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 (Bernama) -- The Health Ministry will discuss with the National Cost of Living Action Council on the proposed amendments on the consultation and procedural fees in private and general clinics, before the matter is brought up for Cabinet approval.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad in a statement today said he will also chair a meeting with stakeholders to explain on the amendment, and several related allegations on the matter.
He added a memorandum was submitted at the cabinet meeting on the proposed amendment last month.
"The memorandum aims to amend the consultation and procedure fees for general practitioners at the private general medical clinic, in tandem with the fee rate for general practitioners at licensed facilities.
"While, the cabinet ministers need to understand the need and rationale for the recommendation, a meeting has suggested that the matter be discussed at the National Cost of Living Council meeting and be brought up again for Cabinet's consideration,” he said.
Dr Dzulkefly said he would also discuss issues related to private healthcare services during the meeting with the stakeholders.
The date of the meeting would be notified soon,” he added.
