System down at Selayang Hospital: 40 per cent of elective operations postponed

KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 (Bernama) -- About 40 per cent of elective surgeries have had to be rescheduled due to the technical problem of accessing patient data at the Selayang Hospital which has dragged on since May 4.

The Ministry of Health (MoH) in a statement to Bernama today said the elective surgeries had to be postponed as they required access to pathology reports, especially those involving cancer patients.

The technical issue which has affected the Hospital Information System (HIS) of the Selayang Hospital has caused much delay for patients seeking treatment there, while inpatient service, emergency treatment and surgical emergencies have had to be carried out manually.

According to the statement, the ministry’s Information Management Division has been working full time with the Selayang Hospital’s technical team to restore the system by the end of the month.
