Kedah seniors urged to grab PeKa B40 benefits

ALOR SETAR, June 4 (Bernama) -- Recipients of the Bantuan Sara Hidup or subsistence aid aged 50 and above are encouraged to take advantage of the  B40 health scheme (PeKa B40) introduced by the government last April 15.

State Health director Datuk Dr Norhizan Ismail said based on the department's records, only 378 of those who were eligible for the benefit provided by the Health Ministry had undergone health screening as of May 14.

"The budget approved by the government for PeKa B40 is RM100 million for this year and the quota for Kedah is for 71,920 recipients.

"But to date, the response has been slow in Kedah and we hope more of them will take this opportunity to go for screening and receive treatment if necessary,” he said.

He said the target group could obtain more information on Peka B40 from government clinics or their respective Village Community Management Council.

"Or they can look up www.pekab40.com.my to confirm whether or not they are eligible, and the website also has a list of government and private clinics that could do health screening for them,” he said.
