KOTA BHARU, June 13 (Bernama) -- Effective efforts by all quarters are needed to promote the National Health Protection Scheme (mySalam) because many are still unaware of the existence of such a scheme.
Trader, Mohd Rosdi Awang, 47, said he knew that the scheme existed but did not know the details.
"I’ve heard about the scheme but I don’t know the detailed information about the benefits, who’s eligible for them and how to apply for it.
"Perhaps in the future, information about the scheme can be included in the Friday sermon delivered at mosques, especially in rural areas," he told Bernama when met here today.
Meanwhile, Wan Mohamad Wan Abdullah, 59, from Kampung Baung here urged the relevant parties to to open information kiosk on mySalam at hospitals and health clinics in the state.
The mySalam is an initiative by the Pakatan Harapan government that aims to provide 3.8 million B40 individuals, who are also recipients of Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH) 2019, aged between 18 and 55 and their spouses with free takaful health protection.
The scheme provides for a one-time payment of RM8,000 to an eligible individual diagnosed with any of the 36 listed critical illnesses such as cancer and heart disease.
In addition, mySalam scheme provides a daily payment of RM50 for a maximum of 14 days or RM700 annually to those receiving treatment at any public hospital.
