KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 (Bernama) -- The Ninth Malaysian Conference on Healthy Ageing will be held from July 24 to 26 here, which among others will discuss a wide scope of topics and issues in ageing.
Organised by the Malaysian Healthy Ageing Society (MHAS), with a theme 'Ageing, Health and Community', the biennial conference will take place at the Persatuan Alumni Universiti Malaya (PAUM) Clubhouse here.
MHAS in a statement today said although the conference will feature more holistic programmes for healthcare and allied healthcare professionals, stakeholders, members of the public may find its wide scope of topics of interest to them
"Malaysia will reach ageing nation status in 2030 when 15 per cent of its population will be 60 years or older. The conference is part of MHAS’ ongoing efforts to promote healthy ageing and educate healthcare professionals as well as the public on various ageing issues," said MHAS President Dr Wong Teck Wee in the statement.
He said the wide scope of programmes will be of intetrest to the insurance, and finance sectors as well as caregivers of older persons, care providers, government, municipal authorities and many other stakeholders.
Among the highlights of the conference are Plenary Sessions on ‘What About Transition Adaptation and Well Being – The Life Experience by the Older Person’ by Kim Walder; Cancer: Prevention is Better than Cure by Associate Professor Ravindran Kanesvaran and Lessons Learnt: What Would You Do Differently If You Were Given a Second Chance by Dr Tan Seng Giaw.
