Child with cleft palate needs help

BATU PAHAT,  July 9 (Bernama) --  A  couple is seeking the public's cooperation to cover the cost of surgical treatment of their daughter who has a cleft palate.

Mohd Norashid Munisif, 34, and his wife, Noraziana Bhak, 35, said their daughter Noraziana Khatijah, three, was diagnosed having the problem since birth when she did not stop crying.

"Since then, she has undergone two surgeries to rectify the palate and is now waiting for the third surgery.

"According to the date given by the doctor and if her health permits, the third surgery will be held on July 30 at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital , this time to correct the gums and jaws," he told reporters here today.

Mohd Norashid said although the cost of surgery was expected to be around RM3,000, it was still a burden for him because of his unstable income.

"Our second child, Mohamad Norashidi Hisyam, 13, was also suffering from the same thing but all surgical sessions had been performed," he said.

Mohd Norashid said after undergoing the surgery, he hoped the condition of his child would improve and she would be able to talk and eat normally.

The public who want to help can send their donations to Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) account number  0100641000099694 or contact Mohd Norashid at 017-7261684.
