JOHOR BAHRU, July 14 (Bernama) -- The provision of free accommodation for visiting family members of cancer patients, as well as a scenic garden, at the Tunku Laksamana Johor Haematology Ward at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital here, is a welcome addition for all.
State Health Director Dr Selahuddeen Abd Aziz said the combination of the rooms and garden, also known as 'The Caring Home', will help towards relieving the stresses faced by patients and their families, most of whom travel from far distances to receive treatment at the hospital.
'The Caring Home' comprises three rooms with two beds each for the use of visiting families, while the garden features a variety of plants as well as gazebos.
The new attraction will also benefit outpatients and hospital staff stationed at the ward which can house 24 patients, Selahuddeen said.
The director spoke to Bernama after the launch of the 'home' today by the Permaisuri of Johor, Raja Zarith Sofiah Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah who also presented souvenirs from Pizza Hut Malaysia to 18 haematology patients.
The provision of the family rooms and the garden was made possible through a project jointly undertaken by Mutiara Johor Corporation, a charitable organisation under the auspices of Johor Corporation, and Pizza Hut Malaysia, with 20 sen from every purchase made by the fast-food giant's customers, going towards the project.
