Special postnatal aid for mothers

Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg

KUCHING, Aug 28 -- The Sarawak state government will provide three months of financial assistance to mothers who have just given birth.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said the postnatal aid would be given to all mothers, regardless if they were housewives or working mothers.

“We are sympathetic towards all mothers, especially those who are working with a daily salary and those who may lose their income for up to three months after giving birth.

“After giving birth, mothers need to buy baby supplies like milk, diapers and so on. I will announce the amount in the (2020) Sarawak budget presentation.”

He said this when launching the Sarawak Land and Survey Innovation and Integrity Day 2019, organised by the Sarawak Land and Survey Department, here, today.

Abang Johari said the allocation for the aid came from various sources of income and taxes in the state.
