Minister satisfied with staff's level of preparedness in facing fires

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 24 -- Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad is satisfied with the level of preparedness of ministry staff at its block E7 premises here in dealing with fire emergencies.

The Health Ministry today conducted a fire simulation on the sixth floor of the 13-storey building which has 876 staff.

Two staff who were "trapped" were saved by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department personnel who arrived at the scene within five minutes upon receiving a distress call.

They then used a skylift to bring down the "victims".

Two other staff who were "injured" were given "treatment" by a medical team that arrived within 10 minutes.

"The rest managed to escape by leaving the office building on time," Dr Dzulkefly told reporters after observing the simulation.
