PUTRAJAYA, Sept 24 -- The National Environmental Health Action Plan (NEHAP) focuses on 11 areas of concern that aim to put sustainable environment and health at the centre of development, said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.
He said the areas were air quality; water, sanitation and hygiene; solid and hazardous waste; toxic chemicals and hazardous substances; climate change, ozone depletion and ecosystem change; and contingency planning preparedness and response in environmental health emergencies.
Others are environmental health impact assessment; information and communication technology; urban drainage; environmental health experts; and vector bearing diseases.
"Through NEHAP, collaboration between health and environment can be strengthened by enhancing cooperation between sectors and agencies to address various issues, including challenges in facing and addressing climate change," he said when opening NEHAP 2019 conference here today.
Dr Dzulkefly said to address the sectorial diversity that affected the environmental health, government agencies, universities and private sector needed to work together to implement the sharing agenda in NEHAP.
