KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 -- Hospital Ampang is the first public hospital in the country to adopt Atellica Solution, an innovative chemistry and immunoassay analyzer to improve its pathology laboratory's efficiency.

Deputy Health Minister, Dr Lee Boon Chye said the laboratory diagnostics technology will benefit the patients with rapid, high precision test results as it can run up to 500 to 1,000 patients sample per hour.

“This is part of our efforts to change our lab operation equipment with new, modern, state-of-the-art and efficient ones.

“We also have plans to upgrade the existing equipment to Atellica Solution analyzer at three other public hospitals through an open tender concept,” he told reporters after launching the analyzer here today.

On average, the Atellica Solution analyzer can analyse samples and diagnose diseases between two to three times faster than the conventional machines.

Lee said the machine would enhance the capabilities of the hospital’s pathology services to support early diagnosis of diseases.

Meanwhile, Ampang Hospital director Dr Ghazi Abd Manaf said the technology would optimise the hospital's capacity as a national haematological referral centre.

“I believe the use of this technology will be a huge boost and support to our health services and will contribute to the continuous improvement in pathology services,” he said.
