KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 -- The Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) and its member companies are taking proactive steps in providing additional relief measures for certificate holders who are affected by COVID-19 in the country.
Takaful operators are offering diverse relief measures, among others, cash relief of up to RM5,000 for individual customers who are diagnosed with COVID-19; hospital income benefits; and special lump-sum death benefits, ranging from RM6,000 to RM20,000 upon the death of the participants, the association said in a statement today.
MTA said one Takaful operator has pledged RM1.0 million financial assistance programme for customers affected by COVID19, while for the Travel Personal Accident plan, one takaful operator offered to cover overseas medical expenses, up to the benefit limit if the person is diagnosed with COVID-19 for certificate enrolment prior to Jan 23, 2020.
Takaful operators also have reviewed the operation of branch offices nationwide in support of the Movement Control Order.
