Two reports of ILI cluster cases in Perak

IPOH, Dec 20 -- The Perak Health Department has received two reports of ‘influenza-like illness’ (ILI) involving members and trainees at the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Base in Lumut.

Dialysis subsidy recipients up by 37.27 per cent

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 18  -- The number of haemodialysis subsidy recipients receiving treatment at 125 dialysis centres, run by non-governmental organisations (NGOs)  and overseen by the Health Ministry, increased by 37.27 per cent this year from the figure in 2017.

TB Deaths High Due To Late Treatment

KUALA LUMPUR -- Tuberculosis (TB) claims about 1,500 to 2,000 lives annually in Malaysia, with an average of six deaths occurring every day.

Head of TB/Leprosy Sector at the Health Ministry's Disease Control Division Dr Mohamed Naim Abdul Kadir, who revealed these statistics, said about 20,000 to 25,000 new TB cases are recorded in Malaysia each year.

Describing the number of fatalities as high, he said the deaths were mainly due to the delay in seeking medical treatment.
